Exploration Of Community Decisions In Choosing To Take Debt At Mobile Banks From An Islamic Economic Perspective

Abstrak

The phenomenon of the rise of loan sharks in the Muslim community among the people of Lawang Taji Village is the background for this research. This research aims to explore and understand the considerations of the community in choosing to borrow money from loan sharks in order to solve the causal factors and it is also important to provide an Islamic economic view as a new perspective. The methodology used is qualitative research with inductive-descriptive analysis through the case study method. Sampling is done by interviewing sources related to the research topic located in Lawang Taji Village. From the results of the research, it can be seen that the factors that influence the community in choosing to owe money to loan sharks are urgent economic needs which include aspects of education costs, health, home repairs, or business capital that need to be met immediately. In conclusion, the economic conditions that are not always stable in the village make people often face urgent financial challenges, moneylenders are the main choice because they provide quick and easy access to meet the needs of funds. The Islamic economic review of community behavior in choosing loans at loan sharks is not in accordance with the principles of Islamic economics which explicitly forbids usury.
